Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Let us look, he said
"And al-Baghawi, that divine scholar, chose this view in his exegesis***"
"And Mujahid had said this view, but*** Ibn Ishaq, the one of high status"
"He said: The distance between us and the Throne is this*** measure in the travel of a human being"
He means that Ibn Ishaq said that the difference in time or the difference in estimation between one thousand and fifty thousand is based on the speed of travel. If a human being were to travel from the lower limits of the earth to the Throne, the duration would be fifty thousand years, whereas for the angels it is one thousand years. He made the difference between these two numbers, which is a large difference, based on the speed of travel. This is also weak, because this interpretation is forced in reality. We do not resort to such an interpretation except in cases of dire necessity, and there is no dire necessity that would make us treat the two days as one day. We can escape all these forced interpretations by saying that these are two days: the Day of Resurrection and the day in this world.
