[Reconciling His saying, the Exalted: (in a day whose measure is a thousand years) and His saying: (in a day whose measure is fifty thousand years)
It is mentioned in Surah Al-Sajdah that Allah, the Exalted, says:[As-Sajdah 32:5] ،And in Surah Al-Ma'arij, Allah, the Exalted, says: The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day whose measure is fifty thousand years [Al-Ma'arij: 4] So what is the reconciliation between the two verses?
As for the verse in Al-Sajdah, Allah says: [Al-Sajdah: 5] This is in this world [Al-Sajdah: 5] and that is because it has come in the hadith: (Between the earth and the lowest heaven is five hundred years, and the thickness of the heaven is five hundred years) .
So on this basis, it is a thousand.
As for Surah Al-Ma'arij, that is in the Hereafter,Therefore, it appears to me that His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:[Al-Ma'arij: 4]is related to His saying:[Al-Ma'arij: 1-2]meaning: that this punishment which befalls the disbelievers on a day whose measure is fifty thousand years is not related to His saying:[Al-Ma'arij: 4]rather, the angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in this world, as stated in the surah: (Alif Lam Mim, The Revelation)Al-Sajdah. This is what appears to me.
It is mentioned in Surah Al-Sajdah that Allah, the Exalted, says:
He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count.
As for the verse in Al-Sajdah, Allah says:
He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him
