What are the rights of the husband over the wife? And what are the rights of the wife over the husband?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I am asking about the rights of the husband over the wife and the rights of the wife over the husband?

The Shaykh : Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:
And live with them in kindness وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
And He the Exalted said:
And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:228]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared in his sermon during the Year of the Farewell Pilgrimage that the husband owes his wife her provision and clothing in a good manner. So it is obligatory for each of the spouses to fulfill the right that the other has over him in a manner that is pleasing, without coercion, restlessness, or delay, so that their cohabitation is established in the required manner and marital happiness is achieved. It is well known that if the spouses are blessed with children, their character is reflected in their children. If their character is noble and good, the children acquire noble and good character from them. And if the matter is the opposite, the matter is the opposite. Among the rights of the parents over their children is doing what is right.

The questioner : Very well.

The Shaykh : Such as spending, service, status, and other things from which the parents benefit.
The right of the wife: Clothing and financial maintenance in a good manner, without stinginess or delay.
The right of the husband over his wife: That she obeys him in what he orders her to do, as long as it is not in disobedience to Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
Likewise, the right of the parent over the child is that the child obeys him in what is not disobedience to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and in what does not harm the child. For this reason, if a parent orders his son to divorce his wife, the son is not obligated to obey him unless his order is for a Shari'ah reason. In that case, he must divorce her, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) ordered 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar to divorce his wife when 'Umar ordered him to do so. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you. This listener, Maryam Yusuf, actually wrote a long letter, the summary of which is: Your Eminence, the Shaykh.
