The Shaykh : We remain with "istiwa'"; it has several meanings, is that not so? Therefore, it remains ambiguous, and the intended meaning is not known from it. So he said, may Allah have mercy on him:
"And likewise, istiwa' connected to a preposition, by which *** the intended meaning became clear, a clarity of explanation"
"Istiwa' upon the Throne" is qualified by a preposition by which the meaning of "istiwa' upon something" is known, meaning He rose above it. It is clear and does not admit of anything other than this. Therefore, he said:
"And likewise, istiwa' connected to a preposition, by which *** the intended meaning became clear, a clarity of explanation
in which there is no ambiguity, nor is it *** understood through ambiguity or a second metaphorical meaning"

He negated these three things: the first with regard to the Throne, and the second with regard to "istiwa'." There is no ambiguity in it that would make it misleading, nor is there ambiguity in meaning, meaning it is not used for two meanings equally, nor is there metaphorical usage; rather, it is a literal term in its context.
