(Ibn al-Qayyim’s Address to the People of Denial of Attributes Regarding Their Cursing of the People of Hadith) O people upon whom the wrath of the Divine has fallen *** Is it for this that you curse them with contempt? Woe to you when you curse

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
"O people upon whom the wrath of Allah has fallen ***"
He is addressing the people of denial of the divine attributes who denied the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and prevented the perfection of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He)
"The wrath of Allah has fallen upon them" because of their turning away from the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his Companions, and the people of hadith after them.
"*** Is it for this that you curse them with contempt"
He means: Is it because you opposed the people of the Sunnah that you curse them?
"Woe to you when you curse the camels *** of Islam, the party of Allah and the Qur'an"
"Zawamil" is the plural of "zamalah," which is a camel that carries goods, or a camel that carries luggage. The intended meaning is that these people of hadith are those who carry the Sunnah, just as the laden camels carry the goods of travelers.
"And you cursed them, yet you are not their equals ***"
He means you are not their equals; rather, you are lower, more base, and more humble than they are. And yet you curse them. However, the sensible ones among them turned away from your cursing. For this reason, he said:
"*** So they saw your cursing as a deficiency"
He means: They did not descend and lower themselves to the point of cursing you; rather, they turned away from you and left you.
