The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) says in this chapter that two groups will gather before Allah on the Day of Resurrection to dispute about Allah: the group of deniers and the group of affirmers. The group of deniers says:
"They judged their Lord by their intellects and the thoughts of minds,
calling it reasonable" meaning: described according to what reason dictates.
"And they said it is" meaning: what the intellects indicate
"*** more worthy of proof than the transmitted text" meaning: that the rational is more worthy than the transmitted in their view, and for this reason they ruled by reason and left the transmitted text.
