Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And He preserved me from what those were afflicted with *** who judged against You by the law of slander" Who? The deniers, and the law of slander is reason, for the corrupt reason is undoubtedly slander, and the false reason does not contradict the transmitted texts.
"And He preserved me from what those were afflicted with *** who judged against You by the law of slander" Does *al-alla* mean the former ones? No, it means "those who." Ibn Malik said:
"The plural of *alladhi* is *al-alla*, *alladhina*" The plural of *alladhi* is *al-alla*, *alladhina*, in a general sense.
"They cast Your Book behind their backs *** and clung to the decorations of delusion"
This is their state, may Allah protect us from it, that they do not refer to the Book and the Sunnah in affirming or denying the attributes, but rather they refer to the decorations of delusion that they have fabricated.
"And He showed me the misleading innovations how *** they are presented adorned to man, his Shaytan"
This is among the blessings of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, grants man a light by which he is guided, so he sees the truth as truth and the falsehood as falsehood. And it is ill fortune that the truths are veiled from a person, so he does not see the falsehood as falsehood, nor the truth as truth. We ask Allah for safety. Yes, he says:
"His Shaytan, so he continues to engrave them for him *** like the engraving of one who depicts an image with paint"
As for images, suppose he draws a picture of a tree; you will find he strives to make this picture complete, so that when you look at it, it is as if you are looking at the original tree. These are their Shayatans, drawing this falsehood for them with this precise depiction.
"So the deluded one thinks it is truth, while in *** reality it is like the mirage in the valleys"
Our reader read it as: like *al-lal*, is that how you have it?
The student : No, *al-lal*.

The Shaykh : *Al-lal*, yes, that is right, like *al-lal* in the valleys. *Al-lal* is the mirage, and when a person sees the mirage, he thinks it is water. Suppose you are in the desert, thirsty, and there is barren land before you where the mirage appears like water. You find yourself feeling that you have been saved, because there is much water before you, but when you reach it, you find it is a mirage
which a thirsty one thinks is water until, when he comes to it, he finds it is nothing but finds Allah before Him, and He will pay him in full his due يحسبه الظمآن ماء حتى إذا جاءه لم يجده شيئا ووجد الله عنده فوفاه حسابه
[An-Nur 24:39]
, yes.
"So the deluded one thinks it is truth, while in *** reality it is like the mirage in the valleys".
