The Meaning of the Poet's Saying: "Thanks to the Divine for that, and our Lord *** Glorified is He, for the servant, has two kinds of thanks"
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"Thanks to the Divine for that, and our Lord *** Glorified is He, for the servant, has two kinds of thanks"
And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is greater in His thanks than we are. If a person draws near to Him by a span, He draws near to him by a cubit; if he draws near to Him by a cubit, He draws near to him by an arm's length; and if he comes to Him walking, He comes to him running. So Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) thanks the servant more than the servant thanks his Lord. For this reason, he (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
"And our Lord *** Glorified is He, for the servant, has two kinds of thanks" And Allah the Exalted mentioned that among His names is al-Shakur (the Most Thankful) in several verses of the Qur'an. The Messenger's shortening, yes.
"The Messenger's shortening for those is mercy from Him *** for them"
From Him, meaning from Allah; for them, meaning for the wives; thanks, yes.
"And thanks to the One of Grace"
Meaning, whoever thanks Allah (Mighty and Majestic), [receives] mercy and thanks.
