(Explanation of an objection raised against the hadith of Moses praying in his grave, then seeing him in the sixth heaven, by which the hadith can be explained and the answer to it) But his seeing Moses

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then the author raised an objection to the hadith, the hadith narrated by Muslim that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Moses praying in his grave. In reality, it can be said that this is more deserving of explaining the hadith than what the author mentioned previously. What did the author previously use to explain the hadith?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : That it was narrated as mawquf (stopping at a Companion). But what he has raised now may be more deserving of explaining the hadith than what came before. Let us look at it. It is that some people explained the hadith by saying: How can he see him praying in his grave and then see him in the sixth heaven in one night? This is impossible. Yes, Ibn al-Qayyim answered it by saying:
"But his seeing Moses on the night of the Mi'raj above all that exists
All the compilers of the authentic collections narrate it, and certainty is its requirement"

Meaning that this necessitates certainty "without denial"
"And for that reason, he suspected a contradiction with his prayer In his grave, for the two cannot coexist"
How can he see him praying in his grave and then see him in the sixth heaven? But Ibn al-Qayyim answered it
"And the answer to it is that he was taken by night To see him, then he saw him with his own eyes"
Meaning that Allah took Moses by night, or took Muhammad by night to see Moses, and the two are connected. But he saw him on earth in his grave praying, and he saw him in the sixth heaven, and there is no contradiction. For this reason, he said: "So he saw him there and in the tomb" The tomb means the grave.
"And this is not a contradiction, for the two times are possible"
Because the night is long, and he did not see Moses at the same time he saw him in the sixth heaven. As long as the two times are different, it is possible that he saw him first on earth and then saw him second in the heaven, due to the difference in the two times. Yes.
