A reading from the words of the poet: A chapter on breaking the catapult that the people of denial of the divine attributes set up against the strongholds and fortresses of faith, generation after generation.

The reader: "A chapter on breaking the catapult that the people of denial of the divine attributes set up against the strongholds and fortresses of faith, generation after generation"
The Shaykh : The strongholds of faith, yes.
The reader: "Let not the clattering and crashing *** and the rumbling that are devoid of proof alarm you"
The Shaykh : Is that how it is with you? ... Yes.
The student: It is found in the *Hirās*.
The Shaykh : No, the apparent one is found; if you find it, the verse is long, yes.
The reader: "They have nothing to terrify you except this, *** like a catapult that severs the pillars"
And it is what they call composition, *** directed against affirmation since a long time ago.
Have you seen this catapult? For they *** set it up beneath the strongholds of faith.
Its stones reached the fortresses and destroyed the *** balconies and took over the walls.
By Allah, how many a fortress the *** disbelievers took over from this second catapult"
The Shaykh : The *Jānī*.
The reader: "By Allah, how many a fortress the *** disbelievers took over from this *Jānī* catapult.
And by Allah, they did not set it up until they *** deliberately interpreted the great fortress of high status.
And of the calamity is that a group between the peo- *** ple of the fortress and those who are with them"
The Shaykh : And those who are with them.
The reader: "And of the calamity is that a group between the peo- *** ple of the fortress and those who are with them are upon aggression.
And they threw it with them, and the affliction of the peo- *** ple of the fortress from them is greater than that of disbelief.
So composition from their disbelief and the agreement of those *** in the fortress produced types of tyranny.
And the greatest trial befell Islam *** from those two, by the decree of the Most Merciful.
And by Allah, had the Most Merciful not taken hold of His religion, *** it would have been like the other religions"
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah.
The reader: "But the Deity established for it, by His grace, *** purifiers from among the supporters and helpers.
They hurled at this mangonel bolts of lightning *** and stones that shattered it to its foundations
The Shaykh : So ask them.
"So ask them what they mean by com- *** position, for composition has six meanings.
One of its meanings is composition from *** diverse things, like the composition of an animal.
From these limbs, and its limbs *** are composed of four pillars.
Is this necessary for the attributes of our Lord *** and His rising above every place?
Perhaps your ignorant one says, boasting, *** that this is necessary for affirmation by proof.
So the accusation is cheap in price with you, *** thrown without measure or scale"
The Shaykh : Glory be to Allah.
The reader: "This, and the second is the composition of the *** containers"
The Shaykh : the passing
The reader: "This, and the second is the composition of the *** containers, and that is between two that separate.
Like the bridge and the door, whose composition *** is by its proximity to a place from which it is separated.
And the first is called composition of separa- *** tion and mixture, and it is clear in explanation.
Is this necessary for the establishment of His attributes *** also? Exalted is Allah, the Possessor of authority"
The Shaykh : Glory be to Allah.
The reader: "And the third is composition from similar things, *** called the individual substances of the worlds.
And the fourth is the body composed of its form *** and its image, according to the Greeks.
And the body is composed of those two, accord- *** ing to the philosopher, and that is clearly false.
And from the substances, according to the masters of the Kalām, *** and that is also clearly false.
So those who affirm the individual substance which *** they claimed is the origin of religion and faith.
They said that the body is composed from it, *** and they have disagreement, and it has colors.
Is it possible for composition to be from two parts, or *** from four, or six, or eight?
Or sixteen, as al-Ash'ari narrated for the one *** with opinions, with clear explanation.
Is this necessary for the establishment of His attributes *** and His rising above? Glory be to the One of glory.
And the truth is that the body is not composed *** from this, and these two are non-existence.
And the individual substance which they affirmed *** is not possible in reality.
If that were established, the impossible would follow, *** with clear falsehood and accusation.
From many angles, and it is very difficult to arrange *** them, due to the difficulty of the meters"
The Shaykh : In the, in the, would you be a mustard seed?
"Would you be a mustard seed equal to the giant in the *** parts, in any of the minds"
The reader: "Would you be a mustard seed equal to the giant in the *** parts, in any of the minds.
Since the parts of each of them *** do not end by counting and calculation.
And if you placed the two substances and a third *** in the middle, which is the middle barrier.
Then for its sake they separated, so they do not meet *** until it is removed, then they meet.
What one of them touches of it is the *** touched thing for the second, without distinction.
This is impossible, or if you say otherwise, *** it is a division with clear explanation"
The Shaykh : Well done.
The student: ...
The Shaykh : Yes "And the individual substance which they affirmed *** is never possible" here.
The student: And not possible.
The Shaykh : No, in my view, it is not in reality; I, in my view, it is not possible.
"And the individual substance which they affirmed *** is not possible"
But in my view...
The questioner : In our view "It is never possible"
The Shaykh : No, with it.
The questioner : ...
The Shaykh : Yes, yes.
The questioner : Is there anything on it?
The Shaykh : This killed himself.
... until the Day of Judgment.
The Shaykh : The strongholds of faith, yes.
The reader: "Let not the clattering and crashing *** and the rumbling that are devoid of proof alarm you"
