(The Shaykh’s appreciation of these verses regarding asking Allah for firm faith in the heart and persisting in supplication) But it was veiled by every loathsome thing*** to turn away the wrongdoer who hesitates, and it is attained by the ambitions that rise to*** the Lord of the Most High by the will of the Most Merciful.

The Shaykh: By Allah, these are great verses. These are great verses. If you see in yourself lagging behind and your self refuses to embrace those who were granted success in good and saw the lights of the morning.
"So know that the eye has become blind, so*** tie your Lord to the known good"
That is, the One who is known for His excellence, Mighty and Majestic.
"And ask Him for a faith that directly touches your heart*** which is veiled from it, so that the two eyes may see"
Ask Him for a faith that directly touches the heart, because this is what is beneficial. As for the faith that does not reach the throats or does not pass beyond the throats, it is not faith. Faith is that which directly touches the heart, descending until it directly touches the heart. If you see in yourself that faith has not directly touched your heart, then you must turn to Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Ask Him while you are prostrating in the last part of the night. Ask Him between the adhan and the iqamah. Ask Him at the times of answered supplication to bestow upon you a faith that directly touches your heart and by which your heart is given life. This is the intended meaning, my brothers. The faith that does not pass beyond the throats, everyone perceives it, even the hypocrite.
And when you see them, their forms please you, and if they speak, you listen to their speech إذا رأيتهم تعجبك أجسامهم وإن يقولوا تسمع لقولهم
[Al-Munafiqun 63:4]
But the faith that directly touches the heart and reaches the heart, so that there is a connection between him and Allah, this is what is beneficial. If you do not find yourself in this state, then reproach it. And who will guide you from your misguidance? Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Return to Allah. Do not despair. Do not say, "I called upon Allah, I called upon Allah, and I did not find faith, I did not find humility, I did not find certainty." Do not despair. Repeat the asking of Allah. Repeat.
Indeed, Allah loves those who persist in supplication. إن الله يحب الملحين في الدعا
Perhaps Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has withheld it from you the first time for your benefit, so that He, Mighty and Majestic, may know the sincerity of your request. For the one who is sincere in his request persists. If it is delayed, he persists. If it is delayed, he persists. And if Allah, Mighty and Majestic, knows from you the sincerity of intention, He is, by Allah, more generous than you. You ask Him to turn to Him and acknowledge Him as your Lord, so He is more generous than you. But do not attach despair to yourself ever. Do not say, "By Allah, I called upon Allah but I did not find faith," as many people complain of now. Many call us and say, "I did not find faith. Faith did not directly touch my heart. I did not find its taste." Turn to Allah. Increase in dhikr. Increase in prayer. Increase in reading the Qur'an. Increase in doing good and showing kindness to your brothers. You will find, you will find this. As for a person wanting something to come to him without effort, that is impossible. That is impossible.
