The Shaykh’s remarks on the Nuniyyah poem and his apology for Ibn al-Qayyim’s repetition of some of its topics and its benefit

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. We have finished this poem and commented on it with what Allah opened up for us, and we ask Allah to make it beneficial. The truth is that this poem, as you have heard it or as most of you have heard it, is a wonderful poem, and there is no fault with it except that our understanding is limited compared to it. Sometimes it contains repetition in order to reinforce the meanings. May Allah have mercy on him; he repeats a lot in order to reinforce the meanings. Repetition for the sake of reinforcement, and given the importance of the subject, is a common thing, even in the Noble Qur'an, where there are repeated meanings that are well known. In fact, in some verses you find the entire verse repeated, such as His saying, the Exalted:
O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination. يا أيها النبي جاهد الكفار والمنافقين واغلظ عليهم ومأواهم جهنم وبئس المصير
[At-Tawbah 9:73]
All of this is in order to reinforce important matters in the minds of people.
