﴿ فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴾

Allah the Exalted said: {So do not set up examples for Allah. Indeed, Allah knows and you do not know.} Then He gave an example afterward, saying:

The questioner : The Shaykh, may Allah bless you, I am confused by the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So do not assert similarities to Allah. Indeed, Allah knows and you do not know. فلا تضربوا لله الأمثال إن الله يعلم وأنتم لا تعلمون
[An-Nahl 16:74]
Then afterward, did Allah, Mighty and Majestic, give an example?

The Shaykh : Yes, what is it?

The questioner :
And Allah presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian وَضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا رَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَبْكَمُ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَى مَوْلَاهُ
[An-Nahl 16:76]

The Shaykh : The "examples" (amthal) referred to here are not the parables that clarify meanings. The "examples" referred to are equals and partners. So it is like His saying:
So do not attribute to Allah equals فلا تجعلوا لله أندادا
[Al-Baqarah 2:22]
