Explanation of the Book of Friday and the Two Festivals-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Reciter: Isma'il narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Bilal narrated to me, saying: Hisham ibn 'Urwah said: My father informed me from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:
`Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr came holding a Siwak with which he was cleaning his teeth. Allah's Apostle looked at him. I requested `Abdur-Rahman to give the Siwak to me and after he gave it to me I divided it, chewed it and gave it to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). Then he cleaned his teeth with it and (at that time) he was resting against my chest.
Sahih al-Bukhari 890
.

The Shaykh :"Whoever uses the miswak of another person" means: is it permissible or not permissible? The correct view is that it is permissible, provided that the other person does not have diseases that are feared to be transmitted to the other. In that case, he does not use the miswak. However, if the owner of the miswak is clean and does not have a disease, there is no harm in using it. But the apparent meaning of the hadith, as we will mention, is that if one intends to use the miswak of another, he should break the hair and fuzz on the miswak, then chew it anew so that it becomes suitable for using it.
So let us look: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr entered with a miswak in his hand, using it to clean his teeth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on his deathbed, his time had come, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him. When Abd al-Rahman entered, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) directed his gaze toward him, looking at the miswak, but he did not speak. 'A'ishah said:
So I knew that he loved the miswak.
meaning she knew the psychology of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), for she was his relative (may Allah be pleased with her). So I said:
"Shall I take it for you?" He nodded his head, yes. So I took it and chewed it.
meaning: did I cut the entire miswak? No, the apparent meaning is that she cut the used part of the miswak, which is the bristles that are on the head of the miswak.
Then she said:
Then I chewed it.
meaning: she chewed it to soften it and bring out new bristles.
She said:
and gave it to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). Then he cleaned his teeth with it
Sahih al-Bukhari 890
use it to clean the teeth.
She said: al-Bukhari abbreviated the long hadith here. She said:
He used it to clean his teeth in a manner I had never seen him clean his teeth in a better way.
He cleaned and purified himself until he left this world with his mouth fragrant, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him.
It is known that when she broke it and chewed it, it would become wet with her saliva (may Allah be pleased with her), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used it to clean his teeth. The last thing the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) tasted from this world was what? It was the saliva of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). He died in her house, he died on her day, he died in her lap, between the two breasts, all of this indicates the honor of Allah the Exalted for this woman, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her). It is a proof of her virtue and that what happened from her in the incident of the Camel was forgiven for her due to her consequences and virtues (may Allah be pleased with her). She is like other people; she strives and makes mistakes and hits the mark.
And in it is a proof that it is recommended for the dying person, if he has consciousness, to clean his teeth with a miswak, following the example of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because the Messenger loved this and asked for it... 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
