Benefits of the hadith regarding the attack on Ibn 'Umar on the day of 'Eid

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this is evidence that it is not permissible to carry weapons on the days of 'Eid and days of public gatherings, because of the fear it causes people. The occasion calls for bringing them joy, not frightening them. However, as al-Hasan said: if they fear an enemy, there is no harm in carrying weapons for self-defense if the enemy attacks.
Also in this hadith is that this Khariji who attacked Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did not respect the sacred precinct, did not respect the time, and did not respect this noble Companion.
It also contains that Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) held that the cause is like the direct actor, and that whoever permits forbidden matters is like the one who commits them. Because he said: "You are the one who struck me, for you carried a weapon on a day when it was not carried, and you brought the weapon into the sacred precinct, so you are the cause." Thus, whoever permits a forbidden thing while having the ability to change it is like the doer, equating the cause with the direct action.
