The meaning of the saying of the Exalted: "And He found you destitute, so He enriched you," and the wisdom behind His saying: "so He enriched you" rather than "so He enriched you and guided you."
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :[Ad-Duhaa 93:8] Destitute means poor, so He enriched you means He made you wealthy.
And here I ask you:[Ad-Duhaa 93:6] Why did He not say "so He sheltered you"? [Ad-Duhaa 93:7] Why did He not say "so He guided you"? Why did He not say "so He enriched you"? What is the wisdom?
We say the wisdom is of two types: linguistic and semantic. - Pay attention to me, my brother - here it is linguistic, and the second is semantic:
As for the linguistic: it is so that the verses correspond in their endings.[Ad-Duhaa 93:2-5] What is the end of the verses? What is the end of the verses? The alif, my brothers.
So,[Ad-Duhaa 93:6] its end is alif. [Ad-Duhaa 93:7]. Its end is alif. [Ad-Duhaa 93:8] Its end is alif. In order for the verses to correspond, the object was omitted, otherwise the original would be "He guided you, He sheltered you, He guided you, He enriched you," but it was omitted for a linguistic benefit, which is the correspondence of the verses.
The semantic benefit: that His saying: means He sheltered you and sheltered through you. How many people did the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, shelter? [Ad-Duhaa 93:7] means He guided you and guided through you. [Ad-Duhaa 93:8] means He enriched you and enriched through you. This is a semantic benefit, and it is indicated by the fact that the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said to the Ansar: Sahih al-Bukhari 4330 So, the omission of the object here has two benefits: a linguistic benefit and a semantic benefit. The linguistic benefit, brother?
The student: The correspondence of the beginnings of the verses.
The Shaykh : The correspondence of the beginnings of the verses. May Allah bless you. The semantic benefit?
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : Yes, meaning the semantic benefit is generality, meaning that Allah sheltered him and sheltered through him, guided him and guided through him, and enriched him and enriched through him. May Allah bless you. And let us stop here so that we can devote ourselves to the questions, because it appears the sun has now risen. We will take the questions, whatever is facilitated, and we will complete the rest of the surah, if Allah wills, in the next lesson after Maghrib, if Allah wills.
The questioner : Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. And after that, may Allah reward our esteemed Shaykh with the best reward, benefit us with his knowledge, and grant him abundant reward and recompense.
The Shaykh : And for those who heard, amen. Yes.
And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
ووجدك عائلا فأغنىAnd here I ask you:
Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?
ألم يجدك يتيما فآوىAnd He found you lost and guided [you],
ووجدك ضالا فهدىAnd He found you destitute, so He enriched you

(2) And [by] the night when it covers with darkness, (3) Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you]. (4) And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life]. (5) And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.

ووجدك عائلا فأغنىNarrated `Abdullah bin Zaid bin `Asim: When Allah gave to His Apostle the war booty on the day of Hunain, he distributed that booty amongst those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to Islam), but did not give anything to the Ansar. So they seemed to have felt angry and sad as they did not get the same as other people had got. The Prophet (ﷺ) then delivered a sermon before them, saying, "O, the assembly of Ansar! Didn't I find you astray, and then Allah guided you on the Right Path through me? You were divided into groups, and Allah brought you together through me; you were poor and Allah made you rich through me." Whatever the Prophet (ﷺ) said , they (i.e. the Ansar) said, "Allah and his Apostle have more favours to do." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "What stops you from answering the Messenger of Allah?" But whatever he said to them, they replied, "Allah and His Apostle have more favours to do." The Prophet (ﷺ) then said, "If you wish you could say: 'You came to us in such-and-such state (at Medina).' Wouldn't you be willing to see the people go away with sheep and camels while you go with the Prophet (ﷺ) to your homes? But for the migration, I would have been one of the Ansar, and if the people took their way through a valley or mountain pass, I would select the valley or mountain pass of the Ansar. The Ansar are Shiar (i.e. those clothes which are in direct contact with the body and worn inside the other garments), and the people are Dithar (i.e. those clothes which are not in direct contact with the body and are worn over other garments). No doubt, you will see other people favoured over you, so you should be patient till you meet me at the Tank (of Kauthar).
