How does a person avoid the whispers of Satan?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How does a person avoid the whispers and seduction of Satan in prayer and other than prayer? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The answer to this has been given previously, that Satan is eager to corrupt the servant's deeds in prayer and other than prayer, and that the way to do so is: that he turns to his prayer, remembers his standing before Allah, seeks refuge in Allah from Satan, and occupies himself with the remembrance of Allah, reciting the Qur'an, and other than this from what Allah has prescribed in prayer. He should be mindful of the greatness of Allah, that he is standing before Him, that this prayer is a great act of worship, that it is obligatory upon him, and that it is the pillar of his religion; so that he turns to it and becomes humble in it before his Lord.
And if that overcomes him and becomes frequent, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised that he seek refuge in Allah from Satan, spitting to his left, even in prayer, spitting to his left, and saying: "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan," repeating it, for by the permission of Allah he will be safe from his evil if it overcomes him and becomes frequent. He spits to his left and says: "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan," three times. He spits to his left and says this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught Uthman ibn Abi al-As, when he said to him: "O Messenger of Allah! Satan has confused my prayer!" So he ordered him to spit to his left and seek refuge in Allah from Satan three times. He did that, and Allah protected him from his evil thereafter.
