Explanation of the issue of exception in supplication.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, if someone asks, is it permissible to make an exception in supplication? Is it permissible to make an exception in supplication?
Answer: Yes, it is permissible to make an exception in supplication. The evidence is that Allah the Exalted said in the verse of mutual cursing between the husband and wife:
And the testimony of one of them فشهادة أحدهم
Complete it, my brother? Stand up and complete the verse?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh :
four testimonies [swearing] by Allah
[An-Nur 24:6]
Go on?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Complete what you have memorized. Now, rest. Strive to memorize the Qur'an. Who will complete it? What is happening, people? None of you have read the Qur'an, none of you have memorized the Qur'an. There is no power nor strength except with Allah. Please, go ahead.
The student: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan.
then the witness of one of them [shall be] four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the truthful.
[An-Nur 24:6-7]
.

The Shaykh : And the fifth.
The student:
(7) And the fifth [oath will be] that the curse of Allah be upon him if he should be among the liars. (8) But it will prevent punishment from her if she gives four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the liars. (9) And the fifth [oath will be] that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he was of the truthful.
[An-Nur 24:7-9]

The Shaykh : Well done. The indication of the evidence is that the husband says:
that the curse of Allah be upon him if he should be among the liars.
[An-Nur 24:7]
This is a supplication, but it is qualified. Likewise, the wife says:
that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he was of the truthful.
[An-Nur 24:9]
So, making an exception in supplication is permissible. Now, if someone says, "O Allah, if I have sinned, then forgive me," is this permissible or not? If he has done a deed and is in doubt about whether it is permissible or not permissible? There is no harm in saying this, and this happens often: a person does a deed and is in doubt about it, so he says, "O Allah, if I have sinned, then forgive me." However, one should not make a general statement, because there is no person who has not made a mistake.
