The occasion of the Hijri calendar and the reason for choosing its time.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We Muslims do not care about their thousands, hundreds, tens, or units. We are independent, and praise be to Allah, with a calendar based on the greatest occasion in Islam. And that is the Hijri calendar, so answer me, everyone. It is the Hijri calendar, which is named after the migration of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his family, through which the Islamic state and the Islamic nation were formed. It was chosen to begin with Muharram because it is after the people have dispersed from Hajj and after the Muslims have completed fasting, which is one of the pillars of Islam, and then Hajj, which is the fifth of the pillars of Islam. So it is as if the year has concluded, and then in the month following the month of Hajj, the year began. So it is a legitimate Hijri occasion in which no one can object. And among the virtues of this Saudi state, and praise be to Allah, may Allah increase it in honor, glory, elevation, and victory, by which it made Islam victorious and by which Islam made it victorious, is that it made the Hijri calendar the official one, yes, it made the official calendar the Hijri calendar. And praise be to Allah. This is a blessing upon this land that it kept the Islamic calendar, which is based on the greatest occasion, and left what is behind it. We are a nation whom Allah has honored with Islam. So it is not befitting for us to humiliate ourselves and be the tails of others. If we date our time by the calendar of those people, they will rejoice, take pride, and swell with arrogance, because we would be what? Followers of them and tails of them. If you could feel what they feel of joy that the Islamic nation, unfortunately, is a follower of them in the calendar, you would see the marvel of marvels.
