Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “... Indeed, upon Us is its collection and its recitation. So when We have recited it, then follow its recitation. Then indeed, upon Us is its explanation”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
[Al-Qiyamah 75:17]
. A good commitment.
Indeed, upon Us إن علينا
In this regard, Allah obligated upon Himself to explain this Qur'an. So He said:
upon Us is its clarification
[Al-Qiyamah 75:19]
.
And here is a question: Does Allah obligate anything upon Himself? The answer is yes, He obligates upon Himself what He wills, out of His generosity and nobility. Otherwise, the servants have no obligatory right upon Him except what Allah has obligated upon Himself. And listen to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful." كتب ربكم على نفسه الرحمة أنه من عمل منكم سوءا بجهالة ثم تاب من بعده وأصلح فإنه غفور رحيم
[Al-An'am 6:54]
.
He has written mercy upon Himself.
“Wrote” means what? It means obligated. So it is for Allah to obligate upon Himself what He wills. And it is for Him to obligate upon His servants what He wills, because to Him belongs the judgment and to Him returns the judgment. So here He said:
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
[Al-Qiyamah 75:17]
meaning We collect it. So nothing of it is lost from you.
And its recitation
meaning We recite it.
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
[Al-Qiyamah 75:18]
“When We have recited it” — the subject pronoun refers to whom? To Allah. And the object pronoun “it” refers to the Qur'an. And the reciter is Jibril; the reciter who dictates to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is Jibril. So why did Allah attribute the action of Jibril to Himself and say:
When We have recited it إذا قرأناه
?
So the answer is easy: it is that Jibril is the messenger of the Lord of the worlds (Mighty and Majestic). So his recitation, which Allah sent him with, is a recitation for Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
[Al-Qiyamah 75:18]
. And for this reason, it is recommended for the person who is learning the Qur'an not to rush the reciter, but rather to wait until he stops at a section of the sections, and then follow.
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
[Al-Qiyamah 75:19]
Its explanation, what is it? Is its explanation by words only, or by words and meaning? By words and meaning. Upon Allah the Exalted is its explanation (Mighty and Majestic) by words, so nothing of it is lost. And by meaning, so nothing of it is distorted. And if anyone were to distort something from the Book of Allah, Allah would send someone to expose him and refute his distortion, as you know from what the people of innovation have distorted from the words of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), where they distort, and the people of the Sunnah and the community come to them and undo this distortion and expose them with it. And an example of this will come in the same surah.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Allah the Exalted said:
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
[Al-Qiyamah 75:19]
And He the Exalted and Majestic said:
And We revealed to you the message
[An-Nahl 16:44]
meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.
[An-Nahl 16:44]
By the wording and the meaning. And for this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) did not leave anything from the Book of Allah that is hidden from the people without explaining it. And an example of this will come later in this surah. Then He the Exalted said:
(20) No! But you love the immediate (21) And leave the Hereafter.
[Al-Qiyamah 75:20-21]
How many they are! Indeed, nine hundred and ninety-nine out of a thousand of the children of Adam are all in the Fire, except one in the thousand who is in Paradise. And for this reason, it is authentic to direct the address to the general public, because they are the majority who love the immediate [worldly life] and leave behind the Hereafter.
(22) [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, (23) Looking at their Lord.
[Al-Qiyamah 75:22-23]
Faces on that Day وجوه يومئذ
meaning the Day when the Resurrection occurs.
radiant, looking toward their Lord
“Radiant” means beautiful. And for this reason it was written with a sad.
gazing at their Lord.
with a tha, meaning they look at Allah the Exalted. These faces look at Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). And look at the gentleness and kindness in attributing lordship here to these faces, and it is a specific lordship, not the general lordship. Where Allah the Exalted raised these people in what pleases Him and permitted them to look at His Face (Mighty and Majestic). O Allah, grant us the looking at Your Face, O Lord of the worlds.
