The Shaykh : The Imam of the believers, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows, on this night, the night of Sunday, the twenty-third of the month of Rabi' al-Awwal of the year 1418, we have gathered with our brothers in the Sacred Mosque. We have all listened to what our Imam recited in the Maghrib prayer, and they were two surahs. Who memorizes them? Say.
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : Do you not memorize them? Glory be to Allah, perhaps you have forgotten. Rest. Fine. Stand up.
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : And the other, and the first one, you left the first one, what did he recite? ... He recited in the second, as I said, Surah al-Ma'un, the second one; in the first one, Surah al-Humazah. May Allah reward you.
He recited these two surahs[Al-Humazah 104:1-3].
Before we begin with what Allah, Mighty and Majestic, facilitates for us in speaking about their interpretation, I say: The Noble Qur'an is the speech of the Lord of the worlds, (Exalted and Majestic is He). He spoke it truly in a manner befitting Him, (Glorified and Exalted is He), with letters, and Jibril heard it from Him. Jibril is described by Allah, the Exalted, with two great attributes: strength and trustworthiness, along with closeness, closeness to Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Allah, the Exalted, said:[At-Takwir 81:19-21] These are great descriptions of Jibril (peace be upon him), who is the intermediary between Allah, (Exalted and Majestic is He), and His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
The honor of the carrier indicates the honor of the carried. So Allah, (Blessed and Exalted is He), revealed this great Qur'an to Jibril, and Jibril, the trustworthy one, brought it down upon whom? Upon whom? Upon the heart of Muhammad. Allah, (Blessed and Exalted is He), said:[Ash-Shu'ara 26:193-195]. And Allah mentioned that He revealed it upon the heart of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to make it known that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) comprehended it and memorized it, because the vessel of preservation is the heart.
So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) comprehended this Qur'an and memorized it, to the extent that because of his intense longing for it, and his memorization and comprehension of it, he would hasten to follow Jibril when he recited it to him. But Allah, the Exalted, said to him:[Al-Qiyamah 75:16] Upon whom? Upon Allah, Mighty and Majestic. [Al-Qiyamah 75:17-18] Meaning, when Jibril, who is the Messenger of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), recites it, [Al-Qiyamah 75:18-19] What is being clarified? Is it the clarification of the wording, or the clarification of the wording and the meaning? Answer? The clarification of the wording and the meaning. So Allah, (Glorified and Exalted is He), did not leave a word in the Qur'an without teaching it to the Ummah. There is no word or sentence in the Qur'an that the entire Ummah did not understand. If the meaning is hidden from some people, it becomes clear to whom? It becomes clear to other people. As for something from the Qur'an whose meaning is not known and is not known by the entire Ummah, that is impossible. But it may be hidden from some people and understood by other people.

(1) Woe to every scorner and mocker (2) Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it. (3) He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.
