O Allah, make us among them. This means that little by little, whenever they need support and assistance, the angels descend upon them and support them. Allah the Mighty and Majestic said: [Al-Anfal 8:12]. The angels also descend upon them in their most difficult state, when the time of death approaches; the angels of mercy descend upon them, they take their souls, and they ascend with them to Allah the Mighty and Majestic.
They, meaning the angels, say to them: Do not fear, and do not grieve. Do not fear the future, namely the punishment, for you are safe from it. And do not grieve over what has passed, for you have occupied it with the obedience of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.[Fussilat 41:31] "Awliya" means that they take charge of you in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. They guide them and direct them to good, encourage them to it, clarify evil to them, and warn them against it. When the angel descends to take the soul of a person, they support them, stand by them, and give them good news. For this reason, He said: [Fussilat 41:31]
