Fatawa of the Makkah Haram-1421-02a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: From Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), from Zayd ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
We took the pre-dawn meal with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then he stood up for prayer. Anas said: I asked Zayd: How much time was there between the call to prayer and the pre-dawn meal? He said: The length of fifty verses.
.

The Shaykh : Yes. This indicates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to delay the pre-dawn meal, and in one narration it is called the suhur (with a dammah). If people agree on a single path.
If someone were to ask: Do you not say that if a person is in the eastern region and the sun has set for him, he must continue fasting as long as the sun has not set in the western region?
The answer is: Yes, we say this, but there is a difference, but there is a difference between this and the general fast that covers the entire month. So we say this, and we say that when the setting of the sun is established in a location on earth, it is obligatory to act upon it and break the fast. And if the crescent moon is seen in a location on earth, then it is fasted. Unlike the setting of the sun, for the setting of the sun, each country has its own ruling regarding the sighting of the crescent moon and the non-sighting of the crescent moon. Yes.
The reader: From Aisha and Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with them both)
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would wake up at Fajr time in a state of Janabah; so he would take bath before dawn and observe fasting.
Riyad as-Salihin 1244
.

The Shaykh : In this hadith, Umm Salama and Aisha (may Allah be pleased with them both) state that they used to fast with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), then he would stand up for prayer. So they asked how much time was between their pre-dawn meal and the second call to prayer, and they said: About fifty verses. In this is evidence that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to delay the pre-dawn meal, and this is the best
People will remain in good as long as they hasten to break the fast and delay the pre-dawn meal.
. But if one fears the dawn, let him be cautious for himself and not take risks.
If someone were to ask: What if a person was eating at the end of the night, thinking it was the pre-dawn meal, and then it turned out to be daytime? What does this person do?
The answer is: He completes his fast and he owes nothing, as indicated by the rule that has passed, and read it.
The reader: From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his fast, for it is only Allah Who has fed him and given him drink.
Sahih Muslim 1155
.

The Shaykh : Yes, this is one of the proofs
If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his fast, for it is only Allah Who has fed him and given him drink.
Sahih Muslim 1155
, even if it is assumed that the man ate and drank until he was full, and when he finished eating and drinking, he learned that the sun had not set, then he owes nothing because he was ignorant, and he is commanded to hasten to break the fast. Yes.
The reader: From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said
He said that while they were sitting with the Prophet a man came to him and said
Mishkat al-Masabih 2004
.

The Shaykh : Repeat, repeat, repeat.
The reader: From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said
He said that while they were sitting with the Prophet a man came to him and said, “Messenger of God, I am undone.” He asked him what had happened to him
Mishkat al-Masabih 2004

The Shaykh : We will leave this hadith for the next lesson, if Allah wills.
