A Note on a Corrupt Phrase: The Saying of Some, “A Man Died and Was Moved to His Final Resting Place”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Here I draw attention to what we read in newspapers or hear in speech: “A man died and was moved to his final resting place”. The phrase “moved to his final resting place” is incorrect and it is not permissible for a person to say it. In fact, if we were to accept its implication, the man who says it would be denying the Resurrection. If he considers the final resting place to be the graves, what does that mean? It means there is no Resurrection. Therefore, it is obligatory to refute whoever says it, whether he writes it in newspapers or says it with his tongue. We say: Be patient; the graves are not the final resting place. The final resting place is Paradise or the Fire.
