The phrase “carried to his final resting place”: Is there anything wrong with this phrase?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He has a final paragraph in which he says the phrase “carried to his final resting place”. Is there anything wrong with this phrase, O honorable Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes, there is something serious with this if people understood its meaning and intended it, because the statement of the one who says “he was carried to his final resting place” implies that the grave is the last stage and the last rank for a person, and that is not the case. Rather, the grave is considered a passage and a place of visitation, and the final resting place is either Paradise or the Fire. If we took this phrase at face value, it would include denying the Resurrection, and denying the Resurrection is disbelief, because faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and the divine decree, its good and its evil. But most people use it without knowing its meaning, or they intend what all Muslims understand, namely that these graves are a passage and a place of visitation, not a final resting place.
Therefore, we see that it is not permissible for a person to use this phrase, even if he intends by it what the believers know necessarily from the religion, namely that there must be a Resurrection and there must be an exit from these graves.
And I said that the graves are a place of visitation based on the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you until you visit the graves. ألهاكم التكاثر حتى زرتم المقابر
.
It is mentioned that a Bedouin heard a reciter reciting this verse, saying
until you visit the graves. حتى زرتم المقابر
, and the Bedouin said: “By Allah, the visitor is not a resident, and by Allah, there is something beyond these graves.” Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge, and benefit the Muslims through you.
O beloved brothers, O noble listening brothers, the honorable Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, professor at the College of Sharia and Principles of Religion in Qassim, and preacher and imam of the Grand Mosque in the city of Unaizah, has answered your questions.
May Allah reward him for his eminence, and thank you all. In conclusion, please accept the greetings of my colleague, the sound engineer Sa'd Abd al-Aziz Khumays. And may peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
