The Shaykh : Then you seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaytan, then you recite the Opening of the Book, which is the Mother of the Qur'an. It is called the Mother of the Qur'an because all the meanings of the Qur'an are gathered in it, but in a summarized form, not detailed. It contains tawhid (the oneness of Allah), the names and attributes, deeds, and history; everything the Qur'an contains is present in the Opening of the Book. In Sahih (authentic) collections, it is narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Mishkat al-Masabih 823 Pay attention to the hadith, for you will be asked about it. O Allah, to You belongs all praise.
When he says, "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds," what does Allah say to him? He says, "My servant has praised Me." When he says, "The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy," He says, "My servant has praised Me." What does "praised" mean? It means he repeated the praise a second time, for praise is describing the Praised One with perfection and informing about Him. So when you say, "The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy," you have repeated describing Him with perfection a second time. What does Allah say when he says, "Master of the Day of Judgment"? He says, "My servant has glorified Me." Glory is greatness. He said in this verse, "My servant has glorified Me," because on the Day of Judgment, the greatness of the Lord (Mighty and Majestic) is manifested. Allah the Exalted said:[Taha 20:108] On that Day, no one will speak [An-Naba 78:38] And He (Mighty and Majestic) said: [Taha 20:111] So in "Master of the Day of Judgment," there is glorification of the Lord (Mighty and Majestic). "You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help." What does Allah say? This is between Me and My servant, divided in half. Why? Because worship is for Allah, and seeking help is for the servant. Seeking help is what strengthens a person for worship, so it is a strength for him, while worship is for Allah alone. For this reason, I can say to a person, "I seek your help," but I cannot say, "I worship a person," because help is for me, but worship is for whom? For Allah. Is it permissible for me to say, "So-and-so sought help from so-and-so," and he was alive and helped and assisted him? Yes, it is permissible. But I cannot say, "So-and-so worshipped so-and-so," because worship is for Allah alone. Now, when he says, "Guide us to the straight path" to the end, what does Allah say? He says, "This is between Me and My servant, divided in half." No, he says, "This is for My servant, and for My servant is what he asked." Praise be to Allah, a great blessing. Here is a question that some people might raise: If there are ten thousand people in this mosque, all of them reciting al-Fatihah, does Allah speak to one of them or to all of them? Yes, we say He speaks to all of them, and He is Able to do all things. The Lord (Mighty and Majestic) is not like you or me or any of the created beings, such that we would say, "If He is occupied with one, He is distracted from the other." The Lord (Mighty and Majestic) is not distracted by anything from anything. He speaks to this one and confides in him, and He speaks to the other in the same way. Just as He reckons all the creatures, He reckons them all on the Day of Resurrection in half a day, as He the Exalted said: [Al-Furqan 25:24] When does the "noon" (midday) occur? In the middle of the day. So do not think, O Muslim, or O believer, that the attributes of Allah are like the attributes of servants or like the attributes of creation. You must believe in everything that has come in the Qur'an or the Sunnah regarding the attributes of Allah, and you must not compare them with the attributes of the created beings. How many verses are in Surat al-Fatihah?
God most high had said, “I have divided the prayer into two halves between me and my servant, and my servant will receive what he asks.” When the servant says, “Praise be to God the Lord of the universe,” God most high says, “My servant has praised me.”
قال الله تعالى : قسمت الصلاة بيني وبين عبدي نصفين فإذا قال :الحمد لله رب العالمين قال الله حمدني عبديWhen he says, "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds," Allah says, "My servant has praised Me." When he says, "The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy," Allah says, "My servant has praised Me." When he says, "Master of the Day of Judgment," Allah says, "My servant has glorified Me." When he says, "You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help," Allah says, "This is between Me and My servant, divided in half." When he says, "Guide us to the straight path, the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned Your anger or of those who are astray," Allah says, "This is for My servant, and for My servant is what he asked."
When he says, "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds," what does Allah say to him?
