The questioner : The sister Umm Abdullah from Kuwait has a second question. She says: If one of my male relatives does not pray, and he is not a mahram to me, and I do not speak to him or converse with him, but only when I enter their home and see him, I greet him by saying: As-salamu alaykum. I do not sit with him or converse with him, and I am shy of him, to the extent that I do not even say to him: How are you? How are the children? Is there a sin on me if I do not advise such a person to maintain the prayer, even though, as I told you, I am shy of him? May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : It is obligatory for Muslims in general to advise one another, but a woman advising a man is feared to lead to fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). If the door were opened, the advisor who lacks strength in her religion in speaking to men would claim that she wants to advise, but such a man whom you mentioned is among your acquaintances, but he is not a mahram to you, and you visit their home, and you greet him when you enter. I hope that there is no fitnah in your advising him. If you are able to advise him face-to-face, with the absence of fitnah and the prohibited, then that is good. And if you see that you should write to him a letter and say, for example, in your signature: From an advisor or a doer of good, and remind him of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and warn him of what he is upon of leaving the prayer, then that is better and more pure.
As for the one who leaves the prayer, he is to be boycotted, and it is not permissible to greet him or go to him except on the way of advising. This is because the one who leaves the prayer, may Allah protect us from that, is an apostate from Islam, and the apostate has no sanctity. Yes.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
