Is the disbeliever punished in his grave, and how is the answer to the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Oh, our misery! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh, you said in the previous lesson that the disbeliever is punished with an eternal punishment. So what is your statement regarding the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" [The reply will be], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth." قالوا يا ويلنا من بعثنا من مرقدنا هذا ما وعد الرحمن وصدق المرسلون
[Ya-Sin 36:52]
? I ask for clarification.

The Shaykh : Yes, the scholars have differed regarding this verse. Is the meaning of "from our sleeping place" from our sleep? It was said that they sleep between the two blasts, meaning they rest from the punishment. It was also said that they do not sleep and do not rest, but the meaning of "sleeping place" is lying down, because they will transition from the punishment of the grave to the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, and the punishment of the Day of Resurrection is more severe and greater. So they say: "Oh, our misery! Who has raised us up from this sleeping place in which we were first, which are the graves." So the issue is one of scholarly disagreement: is it lying down meaning sleep, or lying down meaning staying in this place like a sleeper?
