What do you say about the Dhuha prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This questioner asks, "What do you say, O honorable Shaykh, about the Dhuha prayer?"

The Shaykh : We say regarding the Dhuha prayer what the evidence has made clear to us: that it is a recommended practice (sunnah).

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : A recommended practice (sunnah) always.
The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) differed on this, but what I see is that it is a recommended practice (sunnah) always, to be performed by a person every day. Because even if there were no benefit to it other than that it suffices for the charities that are due on every joint of a person every day the sun rises, for every day the sun rises, every member of a person’s body is due a charity. It is said that a person has three hundred and sixty joints, and every joint requires a charity from it every day the sun rises, as established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). But it is not a charity of wealth only, rather it is a charity of wealth and other things. In every glorification (tasbih) is a charity, in every exaltation (tahliyah) is a charity, in every praise (tahmid) is a charity, in every magnification (takbir) is a charity, enjoining good is a charity, forbidding evil is a charity, helping a man with his burdens is a charity, removing a harmful object from the road is a charity, every word that brings one closer to Allah is a charity, every deed that brings one closer to Allah is a charity, a pleasant face is a charity, and good character is a charity. All of these are charities, every good deed, until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
and in man's sexual Intercourse (with his wife, ) there is a Sadaqa وفي بُضْع أحدكم صدقة
Sahih Muslim 1006
meaning that if a man comes to his wife, it is a charity. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, does one of us get reward for fulfilling his desire?" He said:
Did you not see that if he placed it in what is forbidden, would he bear a sin? أرأيتم لو وضعها في الحرام أكان عليه وزر
Sahih Ibn Hibban 16:141
Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should have a reward. قال فكذلك إذا وضعها في الحلال كان له أجر
Sahih Muslim 1006
.
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed in another hadith:
and two rak'ahs which one prays in the forenoon will suffice. أنه يجزئ عن ذلك ركعتان يركعهما من الضحى
Sahih Muslim 720
So if there were no benefit to maintaining the Dhuha prayer other than this hadith, it would be sufficient. So I see that a person should continue with it. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
