If a person faints during Ramadan, is it obligatory for him to make up the fast?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If a person becomes insane or if he faints during Ramadan, does he have to make up the fast or not?

The Shaykh : During the day, and not for the whole month?

The questioner : Two or three days.

The Shaykh : As for the insane person, he does not have to make up the fast by consensus, because the pen has been lifted from him. As for the one who faints, there is scholarly disagreement, and the correct view is that it is not obligatory for him to make up the fast, and it is not valid to analogize him to the sleeper for two reasons:
The first reason is that the sleeper’s fast is valid, even if he sleeps for three days.
The second reason is that the sleeper wakes up when he is woken, whereas the one who faints does not wake up; he has lost his mind, and he does not have to make up the fast. Yes.

The questioner : And if the insane person regains his sanity?

The Shaykh : If he regains his sanity, he fasts the rest of the month.

The questioner : And he does not make up the fast.

The Shaykh : And he does not make up what he missed.
