How do you combine the midday prayer with the afternoon prayer on an airplane?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : O Shaykh, may Allah reward you. Do we combine the midday and afternoon prayers?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Do we combine the midday and afternoon prayers? Now, if I am on an airplane and the flight duration is eight hours, and we arrive after the night prayer, do I combine the midday and afternoon prayers with the sunset and night prayers?

The Shaykh : No. Pray the midday and afternoon prayers on the airplane in whatever manner you are able to do so, because it is not permissible to delay the prayer beyond its time.

The questioner : But the direction of prayer changes.

The Shaykh : It does not contradict. Face the qiblah whenever the direction of the airplane changes. So, continue facing the qiblah. In our recent airplanes, and praise be to Allah, there is a sign attached to the ceiling that shows you the direction of the qiblah. Did you understand? Did you hear, or not?

The questioner : Except

The Shaykh : Did you understand, or not?

The questioner : Did you not understand?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah. Now, ask your question.
