What is the ruling on the adhan and iqamah for the adhan of the newborn, and likewise tahnik? Are they specific to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you: What is the ruling on the adhan at the ear of the newborn and the iqamah?
And is tahnik specific to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)?
And what is its method?

The Shaykh : These are four questions.

The questioner : Connected.

The Shaykh : In any case, the adhan and the iqamah:
The hadith regarding the iqamah is weak, and the hadith regarding the adhan is acceptable.
As for tahnik: if the operative cause is that the first thing to reach the child's stomach is dates, then it is prescribed for everyone. But if the intention is seeking blessing from the saliva, then it is specific to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Since we are now in doubt whether it is in the way of the Sunnah or seeking blessing, we leave it and do not perform tahnik on them. And if we do perform tahnik, there is no harm, given the possibility that it is so.

The questioner : Where is the adhan?

The Shaykh : The adhan is at the right ear and the iqamah at the left ear, according to the view that it is a recommended practice.
And what remains is the fourth?

The questioner : The method of tahnik?

The Shaykh : The method of tahnik: a person chews a date, takes it out of his mouth, and puts it in the child's mouth.

The questioner : And feeds him?

The Shaykh : Yes, when the child tastes this, he likes to swallow the taste.
