The benefits of the verse: “And Adam received words from his Lord, so He accepted his repentance. Indeed, He is the Accepter of repentance, the Merciful,” and a mention of the types of seeking nearness (tawassul) mentioned in the verse.

Among the benefits of this noble verse is the favor of Allah, (Glorified and Exalted is He), upon our father Adam when He guided him to these words which contained repentance, as He said:
Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words
[Al-Baqarah 2:37]
.
And among its benefits is that the favor of Allah upon our father is, in reality, a favor upon us, because every person feels that when Allah favors one of his ancestors, He is favoring him.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is that a person’s saying:
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."
[Al-A'raf 7:23]
is a cause for the acceptance of Allah’s repentance for His servant. And in it, meaning in
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."
[Al-A'raf 7:23]
, there are types of seeking nearness (tawassul): the first is seeking nearness through Lordship, the second is seeking nearness through the state of the servant,
We have wronged ourselves
, the third state is entrusting the matter to Allah, and the fourth is that perhaps he says, because
we will surely be among the losers."لنكونن من الخاسرين
[Al-A'raf 7:23]
also contains a mention of the servant if he is not forgiven, which is seeking nearness. And among the benefits of the noble verse is that Allah the Exalted speaks with a heard voice. How is that? He received words from Him, and receiving words does not occur except by hearing the voice. This is the position of the people of the Sunnah and the community: that Allah the Exalted speaks with speech that is heard with a heard voice and recited letters.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is the favor of Allah, (Mighty and Majestic), upon Adam by accepting repentance. Thus, there are two favors in that: the first is guidance to repentance, where he received the words from Allah, and the second is the acceptance of repentance, where He said:
So He accepted his repentance
. And among the benefits of the noble verse is that if a person is sincere in entrusting the matter to Allah and returning to the obedience of Allah, then Allah the Exalted will accept his repentance. There are many proofs for this that Allah is more generous than His servant.
Whoever draws near to Him by a handspan, He draws near to him by an arm’s length, and whoever comes to Him walking, He comes to him runningمن تقرب إليه ذراعا تقرب الله إليه باعا ومن أتاه يمشي أتاه هرولة
So the generosity of Allah, (Mighty and Majestic), is higher and more eloquent than the generosity of a human. And among the benefits of the noble verse is the affirmation of these two noble names:
The Accepter of repentance, the Merciful
.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is the exclusivity of Allah with repentance and mercy, as evidenced by the separating pronoun. However, the intended meaning is His exclusivity with the repentance that no other can do, not with every repentance, because a person may, for example, accept the repentance of his servant, his son, his nation, and the like. But the repentance that no one can do except Allah, which is mentioned in His saying:
and who can forgive sins except Allah?
[Ali 'Imran 3:135]
, this is exclusive to Allah. Likewise, the mercy intended is the mercy that is only for Allah. As for the mercy of creation toward one another, this is established and is not restricted to Allah, (Mighty and Majestic). For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The merciful ones are shown mercy by the Most Merciful.
.
