Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The saying of Allah the Exalted:
Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words فتلقى آدم من ربه كلمات
[Al-Baqarah 2:37]
The words are the saying of Allah the Exalted:
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers." ربنا ظلمنا أنفسنا وإن لم تغفر لنا وترحمنا لنكونن من الخاسرين
[Al-A'raf 7:23]
But the apparent meaning of the verses is that Allah did not say, “Say these words”
Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves ربنا ظلمنا أنفسنا ...
[Al-A'raf 7:23]
?

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed. It is not a condition that He should say it; it is not a condition. This is the well-known view among the scholars.
The questioner : What is the evidence that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, cast them upon him?

The Shaykh : He received them from his Lord. Reception must have a sender and a receiver. Yes.
