The Benefits of the Verse: “And establish prayer, give zakah, and bow down with those who bow down”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
In this noble verse, there is evidence that prayer is obligatory upon the previous nations, and that it includes bowing, just as the prayer in our Shari'ah includes bowing. The statement of Allah the Exalted to Mary also indicates this:
O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]." يمريم اقنتي لربك واسجدي واركعي مع الراكعين
[Ali 'Imran 3:43]
Therefore, the previous nations had a prayer that included bowing and prostration.
Among the benefits of this noble verse is that the previous nations were also obligated to give zakah, because it is necessary to test people with zakah. Indeed, some people are so stingy that giving a dirham is harder for them than something great. So the servants are tested by giving zakah and parting with some of their wealth, so that through this, the reality of their faith is known. For this reason, zakah is called sadaqah. Why? Because it indicates the truthfulness of the faith of its owner.
Among the benefits of this noble verse is the obligation of congregational prayer, based on His saying:
bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience]. اركعوا مع الراكعين
[Al-Baqarah 2:43]
Some scholars have used this as evidence, but this argument may be subject to discussion, and it is not necessary that accompanying someone in an action implies obligation. For this reason, it was said to Mary:
be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]." اقنتي لربك واسجدي واركعي مع الراكعين
[Ali 'Imran 3:43]
And women are not obligated to perform congregational prayer. Based on this, we say that using this verse as evidence for the obligation of congregational prayer involves some consideration. Then we add to this statement that one should not bring forward evidence in a debate that allows your opponent to refute it, because this indicates your weakness. You may become weak against a strong argument that your opponent cannot refute, because you weakened in this argument, and your strength is broken. Look at the argument of Ibrahim when the man said to him, “I give life and I cause death.” Ibrahim did not argue with him by saying, “You give life and cause death,” but rather, “Can you give life to the dead or cause the living to die? You only do the causes.” He moved away from that and said, “What?”
Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed إن الله يأتي بالشمس من المشرق فأت بها من المغرب فبهت الذي كفر
[Al-Baqarah 2:258]
So the important point is that I tell you, in the matter of debate, do not bring forward weak evidence that your opponent can use against you. Perhaps you are debating someone in the chapter of attributes, in the chapter of attributes in creed, and you bring forward weak evidence, and your opponent uses it against you. Do not bring forward anything except evidence that your opponent cannot unravel. So we do not accept that this verse indicates the obligation of congregational prayer, but praise be to Allah, the obligation of congregational prayer is clear by other evidence.
