And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it
[Al-Baqarah 2:48]
That is, it is not accepted from people that they intercede for her. Intercession is mediating on behalf of another to bring a benefit or ward off a harm. This intercession is mediating on behalf of another to bring a benefit or ward off a harm. So the intercession of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for the people of the standing place is that judgment is passed between them, which falls under warding off harm, because they are afflicted with anxiety and sorrow that they cannot bear. And his intercession (peace and blessings be upon him) for the people of Paradise is that they are entered into it, which falls under bringing benefits. Intercession revolves around this. On the Day of Resurrection, no intercession is accepted from a soul.
nor will compensation be taken from it
[Al-Baqarah 2:48]
So no ransom is paid for her, and it is not possible for a ransom to be offered on her behalf. And you know now that if a person is seized for a sin and then offers a ransom, it may be accepted from him. And if he asks someone of status to intercede for him, it may be accepted from him. But on the Day of Resurrection, there is no intercession and no ransom.
nor will they be aided.
[Al-Baqarah 2:48]
That is, they are not prevented from the punishment of Allah. And His saying:
nor will they be aided.
[Al-Baqarah 2:48]
contains a shift from direct address to third-person reference, because He said:
And fear a Day
and did not say: “Nor will you be helped,” but rather He said:
nor will they be aided.
[Al-Baqarah 2:48]
and made the pronoun plural, because
And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided.
[Al-Baqarah 2:48]
is an indefinite noun in the context of negation, so it implies generality.
