Benefits of the Verse: “And when We appointed with Moses forty nights, then you took the calf [for worship] after him, while you were wrongdoers”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
In these two verses, there are several benefits, among which is: clarifying the defects of the Children of Israel, in that they took the calf as a god when their Prophet was absent.
Among its benefits is: affirming the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), based on His saying:
And [recall] when We made an appointment with Mosesوإذ واعدنا موسى ثلاثين ليلا
[Al-Baqarah 2:51]
The appointment is usually made between the parties by speech. Then, this appointment that occurred was the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), to the extent that Moses (peace be upon him), out of his intense fear regarding seeing Allah, said:
My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.رب أرني أنظر إليك
[Al-A'raf 7:143]
.
Among them is: clarifying the foolishness of the hot-tempered nation, the Jews, when they took the calf as a god. The amazing thing is that they were the ones who made the calf with their own hands and then took it as a god. But do not be surprised, for whoever Allah misguides, there is no guide for him. The pre-Islamic Arabs did the same or worse. It is said that they would make a god from dates, and when they were hungry? When they were hungry, they ate it. They did not claim that it brought them provision; they knew it would not have that power, but they ate it and said that when they descended to a land, they would take four stones and choose the best of them to be a god, and make the remaining three stones the supports for the pot, setting the pot upon them.
