The benefits of the verse: “And they returned with the anger of Allah. That is because they used to disbelieve in the verses of Allah and used to kill the prophets without right. That is because they used to transgress and used to commit excess.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes, the fourteenth benefit: The deserving of the anger of Allah by the Children of Israel, as He said:
And they returned with the anger of Allah.وباءوا بغضب من الله
, and the occurrence of the anger upon them, both in terms of deserving it from “ba’u” (returned) and in terms of its occurrence from His saying:
anger from Allahبغضب من الله
[Al-Baqarah 2:61]
(Glorified and Exalted is He).
And the fifteenth benefit: The establishment of causes, due to His saying:
That is because theyذلك بأنهم
, because the letter “ba” indicates causality.
The sixteenth benefit: That disbelief in the verses of Allah is a cause for anger, humiliation, and wretchedness, as He said:
they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allahوكانوا يكفرون بآيات الله
[Al-Baqarah 2:61]
.
And the seventeenth benefit: The transgression of the Children of Israel, which has no limit above it, as far as we know, and that is that they combined disbelief in Allah with the killing of the prophets of Allah, as He said:
kill the prophets without rightويقتلون النبيين بغير حق
[Ali 'Imran 3:21]
.
And the eighteenth benefit: That the killing of the prophets is killing without right, because we mentioned that the qualifier here is not a qualifier that excludes its concept, but rather a qualifier to clarify the reality and to provide the reason.
The nineteenth benefit: That sins are a cause for disbelief. Where is this taken from?
Because they used to transgressذلك بما عصوا
, meaning that their disbelief in the verses of Allah and their killing of the prophets, the causes of which are transgression, meaning that when they transgressed and rebelled, for this reason the scholars said: Sins are the messenger of disbelief, and this is a reality, because sins, may Allah protect us from them, tear the fence of the heart until disbelief reaches it.
No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. كلا بل ران على قلوبهم ما كانوا يكسبون
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:14]
And we mentioned in the tafsir that some scholars say that the second “that” is the first, so it becomes a reason by disbelief and the killing of the prophets, and sin and transgression, and they make disbelief a sin and the killing of the prophets a transgression, making it a transgression, saying:
Because they used to transgressذلك بما عصوا
, it is the meaning of His saying:
they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allahوكانوا يكفرون بآيات الله
[Al-Baqarah 2:61]
, and they used to commit excess, it is the meaning of:
killed the prophets without rightويقتلون النبيين بغير الحق
[Al-Baqarah 2:61]
, and the repetition of the demonstrative pronoun is for emphasis, but the original is that it is not so, because it is one of the known rules in the principles of jurisprudence that when the matter revolves between establishment and emphasis, the original is establishment, because emphasis means increasing one of them for emphasis, and establishment means that each of them is a foundation, and this is the original in speech.
And in it is evidence that the Children of Israel combined, may Allah protect us from it, between the sins which are disobedience to the Creator and transgression, between sins and transgression. It was said that sin is in the forbidden, and transgression is exceeding the obligatory, they increase in the obligatory by exaggeration or decrease, and as for sin, it is doing the forbidden. So leaving off prayer, for example, do we call it transgression or do we call it sin? Sin, because it is leaving off an obligatory act, and violating the forbidden, such as zina, is transgression. The end. Yes, that is correct.
And in this verse is the establishment of the anger of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), due to His saying:
And they returned with the anger of Allah. وباءوا بغضب من الله
, and we have clarified that it is a real attribute that must be established for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in a real sense.
And in it also: The clarification of the wisdom of Allah where He connected things to their causes, “that is because they,” “that is because they transgressed,” and this is from the wisdom that causes be effective, but note that causes may have preventers, the causes may exist but there may be preventers stronger than them, and this is also from the wisdom, because the balance between things, the preventer may overcome the cause and the cause may cut off the preventer, this is undoubtedly from the wisdom. Yes? So Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has wisdom in all His decree and in all His legislation. Is there anything else?
