What is the ruling on one who fell ill before the Day of 'Arafah and wanted to exit his state of ihram without having made a condition?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : The first question: What is the ruling on one who fell ill before the Day of 'Arafah while performing a voluntary Hajj and did not make a condition?

The Shaykh : From whom? Who is the one who falls ill?

The questioner : And he anticipates hardship if he arrives, so is he allowed to cancel his Hajj? And what is required of him?

The Shaykh : I say, is he ill?

The questioner : Yes, he fell ill before the Day of 'Arafah.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : So he felt that if he continued, his illness would worsen and he would be exhausted.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct.

The questioner : And he is performing a voluntary Hajj.

The Shaykh : If he had made a condition and said, "If I am prevented by a preventer, my place of exiting ihram is where I am prevented," then he may exit his state of ihram and nothing is required of him. Otherwise, he is obligated to remain in his state of ihram and continue the Hajj until it is completed.

The questioner : Even if he experiences great hardship, such as illness?

The Shaykh : The correct view is that if he fears great hardship and is unable to complete it, the correct view is that he is like one who is prevented by an enemy. In other words: he exits his state of ihram and slaughters a sacrificial animal if it is feasible for him, and he performs Hajj in the coming year if his Hajj was an individual obligation. Yes.

The questioner : Yes, may Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
