What is the ruling on the commission or gift that some commercial establishments announce for whoever buys a certain quantity from them, if the worker takes it without the employer's knowledge?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you: Some commercial establishments announce a commission for whoever buys goods from them.

The Shaykh : Announce?

The questioner : A commission, or a percentage, or a gift, for example, for whoever buys from them a certain quantity of goods. Some workers, who are painters, say: When he agrees with the building owner and goes to this store, he is given this commission. So he asks: Is it permissible for him to take this commission, or should he agree with the building owner and it be between them?

The Shaykh : This is forbidden for the worker if the merchant reduces the price of the goods when a large quantity is taken from him. It is forbidden for the worker to take this percentage for himself and bind the building owner to the original price, because this is injustice. Yes, if he asks the building owner for permission and says: They sell it to me for 10, and with a large quantity they reduce it to 9, and I hope that the extra riyal be for me, then if he permits it, there is no harm. Otherwise, the reduction belongs to the building owner.

The questioner : Sometimes it is in the form of, for example, a machine used for work, like a brush?

The Shaykh : In any case, the important thing is that anything extra is not permissible.
