Is there evidence in the Shari'ah for naming the greeting of the mosque?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : Is there evidence in the Shari'ah for naming the greeting of the mosque by this name?

The Shaykh : No, may Allah reward you, the scholars coined this term and called it the greeting of the mosque. As for the text that came regarding it, it is:
If anyone of you enters a Mosque, he should not sit until he has offered a tworak` at prayer. إذا دخل أحدكم المسجد فلا يجلس حتى يصلي ركعتين
Sahih al-Bukhari 1167
It seems that they, may Allah have mercy on them, named it a greeting because the one arriving from a journey, before entering his home, prays two rak'ahs in the mosque. He goes to the mosque and prays two rak'ahs to greet Allah the Exalted before greeting his family; he greets Allah in one of His houses before greeting his family. This is a recommended practice (sunnah), and it appears that many people are unaware of it, meaning they do not know that when you arrive in a town, you should pray two rak'ahs in the mosque before entering your home. This is analogous to their naming the sitting that occurs after the first rak'ah and before the second, and after the third rak'ah and before the fourth, as the sitting of rest. This name did not come in the texts, but they said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did it to rest, because he became heavy in his final years and would sit for it.
