What is the ruling on one who combines the 'Asr prayer with Jumu'ah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the validity of combining the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers on Friday in the rain?

The Shaykh : What are you saying is valid?

The questioner : One who combined the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers on Friday?

The Shaykh : All right, you have now judged yourself. You say: "I combined Zuhr and 'Asr." Is Jumu'ah called Zuhr?

The questioner : Hm?

The Shaykh : Is Jumu'ah called Zuhr?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : That is the end of the matter. It is not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he combined anything except between Zuhr and 'Asr, because they are two similar daytime prayers, so they were combined. As for Jumu'ah, nothing is ever combined with it, neither after it nor before it. Fajr is not combined with Jumu'ah, and 'Asr is not combined with Jumu'ah.

The questioner : All right, what is the ruling on his prayer, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : I see that it is obligatory for him to repeat it. It is obligatory for him to repeat it, based on the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected. من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
The principle is that prayer is performed in its proper time. It is not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he brought forward 'Asr by combining it except with Zuhr. Therefore, the Jumu'ah prayer remains an independent prayer. For this reason, there are many differences between Jumu'ah and Zuhr, numbering more than twenty. Yes, that is right. But unfortunately, people nowadays have started doing whatever they want. Even in combining prayers now, they combine for the slightest reason. If a few drops of rain fall, they say, "Combine," even though there is no hardship.

The questioner : What is the amount, O Shaykh?
