The questioner : This is a female questioner who works in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a teacher. She says: "May the Shaykh be respected, on the Day of Sacrifice, we went to Makkah for the Tawaf al-Ifadah and Sa'y at Asr time, and we were delayed there after the Tawaf until 2:30 in the evening without any intention on our part, because I lost my father in the heavy crowd and I kept searching for him until we met. We then got in the car to make it to the overnight stay in Mina on the night of the 11th, and we arrived just half an hour before Fajr. Does this mean we made it in time for the overnight stay?"
The Shaykh : There is no blame on you in this, and there is no sin or expiation required of you, because this delay was not due to your own intention. If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) waived the requirement of the overnight stay in Mina for the shepherds and the water carriers because of the people's need for that, then what happened to you is a dire necessity, and it is more deserving of an excuse than a mere need. Therefore, your Hajj is, if Allah wills, complete and valid, and there is no sin or expiation required of you. Yes.
