One who abandons prayer: does he inherit or is he inherited from?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. You previously stated that one who abandons prayer, if he dies in that state, does not inherit. However, when you looked into the statement of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, who said that he does inherit, you paused on the issue.

The Shaykh : He inherits.

The questioner : He inherits, and you paused on the issue. So what is the ruling in this matter, O Shaykh? May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : Yes, the statement is what we said: if he dies, he does not inherit, and if his relative dies, he does not inherit from him. But Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) has a principle that an apostate inherits but is not inherited from. As for me, I see that an apostate neither inherits nor is inherited from, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as narrated by Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him):
A Muslim may not inherit from an infidel nor an infidel from a Muslim. لا يرث المسلم الكافر ولا الكافر المسلم
Sunan Abi Dawud 2909Sahih (Al-Albani)

The questioner : The one who abandons it completely, meaning.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : You are still holding to your previous opinion, Your Eminence.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : You are still holding to your previous opinion, Your Eminence.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes. What do we do with the saying of the Messenger:
A Muslim may not inherit from an infidel nor an infidel from a Muslim. لا يرث المسلم الكافر ولا الكافر المسلم
Sunan Abi Dawud 2909Sahih (Al-Albani)
.

The questioner : The one who abandons it completely.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.
