The questioner : Is it permissible to go to sorcerers to break the sorcery?
The Shaykh : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the nashrah (counter-spell), and he said:Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 13:100.
The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) divided the nashrah into two categories:
The first category is that the nashrah is done through supplications, or through ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) from the Qur'an and the Sunnah, or by using a permissible food or drink. This is permissible and there is nothing wrong with it.
The second category is that it is done through sorcery, meaning that we break the sorcery with sorcery. This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended in his saying:Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 13:100.
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. One of his questions is: How does the guardian of the sick person know the sorcerer?
The Shaykh : Identifying the sorcerer is done through causes:
First: The confession of the sorcerer. The sorcerer may cast a spell and then Allah turns to him in mercy and guides him, and he repents to his Lord, so he informs about his sorcery. Or the sorcerer may have confessed to his friends and intimates that he cast a spell on so-and-so.
Or the one who was bewitched may see in a dream that so-and-so bewitched him, or one of the relatives of the bewitched person may see that so-and-so bewitched his relative. The important point is that the causes leading to knowing the sorcerer are multiple and are not limited to one direction, but there are several directions.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
