The benefits of the hadith: (It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray his voluntary prayers wherever his she-camel faced him) and all of its narrations.

The Shaykh : This hadith contains several benefits, one of which is the dispensation from facing the qiblah in voluntary prayers when one is traveling. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to turn his back on the Ka'bah and face whichever direction he was facing, as explicitly stated in this hadith. For instance, when he arrived from Makkah to al-Madinah and was facing al-Madinah, Makkah was behind him.
