Is it permissible to make du'a' for worldly matters in the obligatory prayer, the night prayer, or in prostration?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to make du'a' for worldly matters in the obligatory prayer, in the night prayer, in prostration, or before the taslim?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for a person to make du'a' for worldly matters in his prayer, whether that is in prostration or in the final tashahhud, because when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) the tashahhud, he said:
Then let him choose whatever he wishes from supplication. ثم ليتخير من الدعاء ما شاء
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:238
.
Moreover, du'a' itself is an act of worship, even if it is for worldly matters. So if you say, "O Allah, provide me with a spacious house and a beautiful wife," or the like, this is permissible, because du'a' itself is worship of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
As for the statement of some scholars that one should not make du'a' for worldly matters in prayer, it is a weak opinion that contradicts the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Then let him choose whatever he wishes from supplication. ثم ليتخير من الدعاء ما شاء
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:238
.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
