The Shaykh : She mentioned that she did not perform tawaf of the House nor sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah, because sa'y is not valid except after tawaf; otherwise, the condition of purity for it is not obligatory. That is to say, purity is not obligatory for sa'y, but one cannot perform sa'y except after tawaf. Therefore, she did not perform tawaf of the House nor sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to her:Sahih al-Bukhari 305 And when he said: Sahih al-Bukhari 1650, he meant, and not between al-Safa and al-Marwah, as that was explicitly stated in the Muwatta of Malik (may Allah have mercy on him).
