We asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about a man who performed tawaf around the House during his 'Umrah but did not perform sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah; should he approach his wife? He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived and performed tawaf around the House seven times, and prayed two rak'ahs behind the Maqam, then performed sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah seven times. Indeed, there has been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example."
سألنا ابن عمر رضي الله عنه عن رجل طاف بالبيت في عمرة ولم يطف بين الصفا والمروة أيأتي امرأته فقال : قدم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فطاف بالبيت سبعا وصلى خلف المقام ركعتين فطاف بين الصفا والمروة سبعا لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنةAnd I asked Jabir bin `Abdullah (the same question), and he replied, "You should not go near your wives (have sexual relations) till you have finished Tawaf between Safa and Marwa.
