The reciter: Qutaybah narrated to us, saying: Al-Layth narrated to us from Nafi': Sahih al-Bukhari 1640
The Shaykh : In this is evidence that it is permissible for a person to use emphatic words, because when they said this to him, he made a public announcement and bore witness to them that he had made his 'Umrah obligatory, so that no one would have any word or advice to offer. In it is also evidence for the permissibility of adding Hajj to 'Umrah without necessity, because adding Hajj to 'Umrah for necessity is permissible in the story of whom? In the story of 'A'ishah. But without necessity, one might say it is not permissible. However, the scholars agreed on its permissibility, except for those who said that Tamattu' is obligatory. The correct view is that this is permissible, meaning that one can add Hajj to 'Umrah before starting the Tawaf, and thus be a Qarin. In it is evidence that the Qarin is sufficient with one Sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah, and is also sufficient with one Tawaf. But the Tawaf before the Sa'y is the Tawaf of arrival, which is a recommended practice. Now, if the Qarin performs the Sa'y before going out to 'Arafah without performing the Tawaf of arrival, it is not permissible, because the Sa'y must be preceded by a Tawaf of worship, such as the Tawaf of arrival or the Tawaf of Ifadah. Yes.
Narrated Nafi`: Ibn `Umar intended to perform Hajj in the year when Al-Hajjaj attacked Ibn Az-Zubair. Somebody said to Ibn `Umar, "There is a danger of an impending war between them." Ibn `Umar said, "Verily, in Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) you have a good example. (And if it happened as you say) then I would do the same as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had done. I make you witness that I have decided to perform `Umra." Then he set out and when he reached Al-Baida', he said, "The ceremonies of both Hajj and `Umra are similar. I make you witness that I have made Hajj compulsory for me along with `Umra." He drove (to Mecca) a Hadi which he had bought from (a place called) Qudaid and did not do more than that. He did not slaughter the Hadi or finish his Ihram, or shave or cut short his hair till the day of slaughtering the sacrifices (10th Dhul-Hijja). Then he slaughtered his Hadi and shaved his head and considered the first Tawaf (of Safa and Marwa) as sufficient for Hajj and `Umra. Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did the same."
The Shaykh : In this is evidence that it is permissible for a person to use emphatic words, because when they said this to him, he made a public announcement and bore witness to them that he had made his 'Umrah obligatory, so that no one would have any word or advice to offer.
